Fifty-million-year-old branches from the shore of Eocene Lake Gosiute lie here wrapped in a skin of pale blue botryoidal chalcedony, which is what collectors actually drive out for. The ground west of Farson is federal and open to hand collecting under BLM Wyoming's rockhounding rules. Management is mixed between BLM and the Bureau of Reclamation near Big Sandy Reservoir, so confirm your exact spot with the Rock Springs Field Office rather than trusting a coordinate from a forum.
